A short story about us

The Church of Nyagidha Seventh Day Adventist is based in Kenya, Nyanza Province, in the town of Homa Bay, Location Kanyada West District. It has assisted in several projects in this area, some of them including a water project which was successfully funded with the blessing of Wesley United Methodist Church based in New Jersey, USA. The tanks are now providing clean drinking water for the women and reduced the problems of fetching water from far distances and also provided proper hygienic conditions for the community hence reducing the risk of water borne diseases.

The Nyagidha Church also now boasts of a better foundation and building structure with funds coming from the above mentioned church of Wesley. Many people in this region are very appreciative of the assistance they have received and now have a brighter future and hope to live in a developed environment, which will be able to sustain their livelihood and provide clothing, homes, food and security, the essentials of life. Many thanks goes to all those who contributed financially and emotionally to the above projects. The Church is situated opposite a 1hectre of land which is readily available for the proposed community project that is set to benefit the Nyagidha community, therefore there will be no need to purchase land as is usually the case. The church has agreed to donate the land for this project. There is a steering committee which comprises of members of the Nyagidha Village community and Nyagidha Church Leaders (all denominations including catholic, Anglican and Evangelical) to ensure the smooth running of the project.

Executive Summary of Nyagidha Education Center
Background and History of Nyagidha Education Center

The people of this village have been living a life of struggling to adapt to a society where education is very viable and necessary. Hence the need for a kindergarten, prep school and especially adult education for those who due to poverty and loss of their parents to diseases had to miss out on this opportunity. It has been researched that a stable education foundation will minimize on the frustration of the community from forms of drug addiction, careless living like encouragement of polygamy which has led to the increase of HIV/AIDS and many orphans unattended to.

Adults also will value this education as it will keep them busy and teach skills they could apply in their daily lives like knitting, tailoring, computer literacy, farming etc where they could add value to the society and feel privileged living a life with hope at the end of the tunnel. There are other organizations willing to provide support in the area of irrigation and farming and I believe this will only come when the above steps have been implemented. For education is a very important aspect of life.
